lynda.com: A fantastic site for online learning

lynda is an online educational site that includes over 3,000 courses (and over 130,000 videos) in popular fields like web design, web development, IT, education/instruction, media production, and business. Experts create and deliver all courses as well as provide supplemental materials like exercise files and relevant work samples.  Users will need to create accounts in order to track course progress, create playlists of potential coursework, and keep course notes. Patrons should refer to lynda’s Privacy Policy and Website Use Policy before starting.

Access lynda.com from the NYPL website

Got your NYPL library card? Connect to the lynda.com database. You can only access the course content at that link, through the NYPL’s login page, and not by directly visiting the lynda.com page. You can access content via a computer, mobile device, and lynda.com apps. You’ll need your library card number and library card PIN.
