This fall, look for a refresh at your Fordham Gmail. Google has added new features for organizing your inbox, viewing your calendar entries, and taking action on your emails. The changes are available Tuesday, August 21 and take effect for everyone on Tuesday, September 18 (you may delay the change until October 16–see below). Find more details about the changes on Google’s Gmail Help page.
Opt in early
Beginning August 21, you may introduce the new interface to your Fordham account. Open your Fordham Gmail in a browser, click the gear-shaped Settings icon on the upper right and select “Try the new Gmail.”
Delay the change
On September 18, anyone who has not opted in early will receive the new interface. To delay the change for one month, open your Fordham Gmail in a browser, click the gear-shaped Settings icon on the upper right and select “Go back to classic Gmail.” The new interface will not appear again until October 16, when it becomes permanent.
Here’s a few new features we really like:
  • Move, delete, or snooze (schedule a time for the email to come back to the top of your inbox) your email without opening it.
  • Expand the size of your inbox to make more room for previewing messages
  • Save time with canned messages, such as “Thanks so much!” Create your own canned messages, too.
