Welcome to the EdTech blog, your weekly source for insights, trends, and practical applications of educational technology aimed at enhancing teaching, learning, and research in our academic community.

Note: Features may change with future updates.

For those in the realms of science, engineering, mathematics, and computing, having access to powerful quantitative software can be a game-changer. At Fordham, we understand the importance of equipping our faculty and students with the right tools to excel in their respective fields. That’s why we’re thrilled to continue offering licenses for MATLAB and Mathematica, two industry-leading computational software programs.

MATLAB: A Matrix Laboratory for Technical Computing

MATLAB, short for “matrix laboratory,” is a high-performance language designed for technical computing, data analysis, exploration, and visualization. Its versatility extends beyond just crunching numbers, as it can be seamlessly integrated with Simulink, a graphical programming environment. With MATLAB at your fingertips, you’ll have the power to tackle complex calculations, simulate real-world scenarios, and bring your quantitative ideas to life.

Getting started with MATLAB is easy. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Go to Fordham University – MATLAB Access for Everyone
  2. Login with your MathWorks account. If you do not have an account, click “Create Account” and follow the prompts. Be sure to use your Fordham email address
  3. Once logged in, you’ll be directed to a License Center page where you can click “Download Installer” to download and install Matlab

Mathematica: A World of Symbolic Computing

Mathematica is a computational software program that has become indispensable in the scientific, engineering, mathematical, and computing fields. Its strength lies in symbolic mathematics, allowing users to perform intricate calculations, visualize complex data, and explore theoretical concepts with ease.

In addition to the desktop version, our university also offers access to Mathematica Online. This cloud-based platform enables you to use and share Mathematica documents and resources seamlessly, fostering collaboration and enabling remote access to your work.

Embrace the Future of Quantitative Analysis

Whether you’re a faculty member conducting cutting-edge research, a student grappling with complex mathematical models, or a professional seeking to enhance your quantitative skills, MATLAB and Mathematica are powerful allies. By providing licenses for these industry-leading software programs, our university is committed to empowering our community to reach new heights in their respective fields.
