Starting April 28, Out-of-Domain file-level warnings will now appear in Google Workspace to indicate when documents originate from outside of the Fordham Google Workspace environment. A yellow “External” badge will now be displayed on Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides files when the file is owned by or shared with someone outside of Fordham. You’ll also see a pop-up with more details and the option to report the externally owned file for abuse.
This feature helps you identify potentially risky files and avoid phishing scams when working with files shared from outside your organization.
If you see the “External” badge on a document, please be extra cautious and review the contents carefully. Keep an eye out for phishing attempts and avoid sharing personally identifiable information on external docs.
