Introduction to Google Bard (webinar)
Wed, February 7 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Bard is Google’s offering into the generative AI (GAI) large language model chatbot market (which includes the similar ChatGPT and Claude). Bard differs from its competitors by having access to live Google search data, meaning it has a wider range of (and more up-to-date) information to access. You can use Bard in any number of ways, but in this session, we’ll focus on the tool from an educator’s perspective. In general, we will discuss:
- Understanding what’s actually happening when a GAI tool is creating an answer.
- Crafting the best possible results by phrasing prompts clearly,
- How to work with the AI in back-and-forth to improve its results
- Understanding the limitations of the tools and what “hallucinations” are
- Reviewing how to best vet the answers generated
- How Bard compares to other tools
Then we’ll talk about how this kind of tool can support your research, teaching, and guidance of students.
Come join us Wednesday, February 7, 1-2 pm over Zoom (RSVP)
