Ready to elevate your Zoom game? In this post, we explore advanced features like the Zoom Whiteboard and enhanced layouts. These tools are designed to boost interaction and help you create a more organized and engaging online experience.
Advanced Zoom Features
In this recording [13:57] Heather V. Hill, Instructional Technologist of Educational Technologies, explains how to use the following features:
- Scheduling and Blackboard
- Sharing
- Breakout Rooms
- AI Companion
Using the Zoom Whiteboard
Use the whiteboard to boost interactivity, replicate the magic of the tangible classroom digitally, and empower new engaging teaching flows. Everyone benefits from making virtual interactions more visually engaging.
Short overview of the Zoom Whiteboard
With a few clicks, instructors can access a blank canvas visible to all participants for real-time visual communication. Sketch diagrams to clarify topics as you present, collaboratively brainstorm using virtual sticky notes, or have students solve problems on the board together. This versatility drives participation and creativity without needing any specialized hardware or software. The whiteboard tool can be used both in and out of Zoom meetings, they save automatically, and you can access an extensive set of templates.

Screen Sharing Presenter Layouts
Screen sharing presenter layouts in Zoom offer a dynamic way to combine your video and shared screen into one frame, making your sessions more engaging. You can choose from various layouts, such as having content appear over your shoulder, placing yourself in front of the content, or displaying both side-by-side. These options are accessible in the sharing window, allowing you to customize how your video and content appear, along with selecting a common virtual background.
Please note, there are a few limitations when using this feature
- These version prerequisites apply to both the user sharing their screen and viewers, but presenters can only share with these layouts from the desktop app. Participants on unsupported versions will view the shared content as normal.
- Presenter layouts currently do not support local or cloud recordings. Resulting recordings will not have the presenter and layouts combined as seen in the live session.
- Presenter layouts also do not support live streaming.
