Staying on Top of Things

Keating and Edward's Parade

Well its been a while since my last post. I hope all of you had a very Happy Easter or Happy Passover and enjoyed the long weekend. Remember, this was a long weekend, one where we should all have taken some personal time, away from the “office” or “work.” That means away from your day-to-day responsibilities. Just because we are working from home does not mean we don’t need vacation or personal time, we are just in a different location.

I know, sometimes it’s hard to figure out which day of the week it is, they all seem to run together. But we have it much better than they did during the Spanish Flu of 1918. We have the Internet, we can still see one another, and virtually be with one another. We can still see what we are up to and talk, or share or do most things, except be there.

We are learning so much about how to work online and remotely. It’s obvious that things have to change, that we will be changed by this and that the way we go about our days, accomplish our work and socialize, will be forever changed. The cracks in our armor are showing, the things that don’t work so well are becoming exposed, but so are the things that do work well. When we come back to a post-Covid-19 world and workplace, we will make adjustments, and those corrections will start before then. Technologies that we thought were fine need some tuning; technologies we never thought of before need to be implemented. A busy work week is coming, not that it isn’t now, but it is exciting and will be different.

Anyway, don’t forget, while you are home, you should still take personal time off. Time at work at home, is still time at work. Take time to get out a little, take a walk, a bike ride, garden, play an instrument, whatever interests you, but take the vacation time to do it. I know I will.
