This fall 2020, in support of Fordham’s mobile work and hybrid learning environments, the University has shifted to a laptop-first strategy for all employees. When a University-issued computer needs to be renewed, it will be replaced with a laptop.
New tools for laptops will be deployed for mobile device management, security, technical support, and software distribution. One important and useful feature of this initiative is that University files can be accessed files anywhere from a secure Internet connection.
To make this convenient access possible, all files currently stored on the campus drive will be migrated to Microsoft OneDrive, a file hosting and synchronization service operated by Microsoft. It’s part of the University’s MS Office 365 subscription. For more information about how to use MS OneDrive, please visit fordham.edu/OneDrive.
Once the file migration is complete, employees will no longer need to use an on-campus computer or the virtual private network, aka VPN, to access files. Departmental shared files will not be moved at this time.
