It’s Free! Antivirus Software for Fordham community

Ever seen those tempting ads for a free download of Adobe Flash or Mac Cleaner? It’s wise to avoid downloading those kinds of applications because their files may contain a virus or some other means for a hacker to invade your computer. According to Norton, a leading supplier of antivirus software, “Stealing passwords or data, logging keystrokes, corrupting files, spamming your email contacts, and even taking over your machine are just some of the devastating and irritating things a virus can do.”

Installing antivirus software on your computer is one way to stop online threats in their tracks. If you use Fordham’s campus network, you already know that updated antivirus software is required for your computer. To make sure everyone has access to antivirus software, students, faculty, and staff can download for free the most current version of Bitdefender Endpoint Security for Windows and Mac. The software can be downloaded anytime, or you can download it the first time you connect to the campus WiFi.

To get Bitdefender now, go to the University Information Security Office’s antivirus page. Install it by following the prompts, including entering your Fordham email and AccessIT ID password, and you’re good to go.

If your device has been infected by a virus, please contact IT Customer Care at 718-817-3999 or visit the ITCC at a walk-in center, located at McGinley 229 (RH) and Lowenstein SL19A (LC).
