We will soon be making significant changes to how we print, copy, and scan at Fordham! Over the summer we will be introducing more services at campus RamPrint Centers and implementing easier ways to access those services.
Printer Hardware Upgrades (Canon) and New Managed Printing Software (PaperCut)
First, we will be upgrading all of our Canon multi-function printers across all campus locations and upgrading a number of our HP printers to Canon devices. These new printer/copiers will provide all students, faculty, and staff with the latest technology from Canon Solutions America and many other benefits. With the latest technology, these new devices offer more features, enhanced reliability, and better energy efficiency, supporting our efforts to lower our carbon footprint through reduced paper and toner usage.
We will also be upgrading to PaperCut print management software across the entire Fordham network. For most of you this will be very similar to programs you may be currently using (e.g. Pharos or uniFLOW). PaperCut is a secure print release program that allows you to use your ID badge or telephone app to release your print jobs on any eligible Canon device on campus. This adds a layer of confidentiality and decreases our environmental footprint, allowing you to review and delete unwanted versions before printing. The result? We will reduce paper, toner, and energy use!
Duplicating Center
Finally, we will be consolidating our 3 Ram Print Centers at Rose Hill, Lincoln Center, and Westchester to a single location at Rose Hill. In conjunction with the Ram Print Center consolidation, we will be introducing an online digital storefront called Pressero to request, receive, and process your orders. After your order is received via Pressero, the order will be processed at Rose Hill and then delivered to its ultimate destination at Rose Hill, Lincoln Center, or Westchester. This will provide the university community a faster, easier, and more secure way to request large orders or specialty items online.
Why are we upgrading Fordham’s printer system?
- To upgrade the service and reliability of our printing, scanning, and copying
- To expand what we can offer the university community’s expanding needs
- Reducing the overall number of devices on campus to match our needs
- Lowering the amount of paper, toner/ink, and energy we utilize in our Print Program
- Upgrade the service and reduce the cost of our overall print and copy operations
Timeline – When will these changes happen?
The upgrades will begin in July 2024 and continue into August 2024. In the meantime, we will keep you informed about when devices will be upgraded in specific areas; how to attend or view training sessions for the new devices and software (PaperCut); and how to begin using the new RamPrint digital storefront.
How will this affect you?
Expect to hear and see more about the new RamPrint program as it rolls forward. Our commitment to you is that we will minimize any disruptions or unhappy surprises by keeping you informed and prepared for when these upgrades will occur in your respective areas. Learn more about the changes to this program on the RamPrint webpage.
