Bb Mailbag: Students not receiving emails

0

Welcome to the Blackboard Mailbag, where we feature a commonly asked question that has been hitting our mailbox recently: blackboard@fordham.edu. You’ll find an archive of all of the previous questions and answers on our fordham.edu/blackboard website.

Note: Features may change with future updates.

My students are not receiving my emails from Blackboard.  What should they do?

The most common reason why students aren’t receiving your emails from Blackboard is that they’re going to the spam filter.  To fix this they’ll need to add Blackboard to the allow list.  For instructions on how to do this, please visit the Spam Management and Email Filters.

If that doesn’t solve their problem we’ll need some information from you when you create a ticket (718-817-3999) or email us (blackboard@fordham.edu):  course ID, course name, date & time of the message, and the username of the student who did not receive your email.

Please note, instead of sending email we recommend that faculty use the announcement tool.  This will keep a copy of your message with the course and you also have the option of sending a copy via email at the same time.  And if you have multiple sections with the same message you can use the Qwickly tool to post and email.

To access Qwickly, click Tools (left menu bar) > Quickly Course Tools

To access Qwickly, click Tools (left menu bar) > Quickly Course Tools

Then select Announcements under the Send option.  You’ll still have to option to also email your announcements to students.

Have feedback or suggestions on features? Blackboard’s parent company Anthology hosts The Idea Exchange. This is a place specifically for Blackboard to track and manage enhancement requests. It allows for things like upvoting ideas and sharing development plans and statuses. You will need to create an account to access the Idea Exchange.
